Today’s readings: Psalms 117, 118, 112, 113; Exodus 17:1-7; Colossians 1:15-23; John 7:37-52.
Sometimes things you write weeks ago, are timely when you go back and re-read them. I am affected by the weather. The sky is grey. My emotions are at the surface probably because Christmas holidays are over and I have to once again think about school and activities. We started up again, but a soft start. Monday we start full on. I don’t look forward to getting in routine again. I like have time to do what I want when I want. I must think about joy. In being intentional, I want to grow and desire wisdom and choose joy.
So my thought today is about Joy. Monique quoted James 1:2 in her video, which says
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
I long for wisdom more than anything, but I long for joy as well. So today’s prayer for my team is, That, in all of your activities, you choose joy.
“Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.” — Henri Nouwen.
Joy is a choice despite our circumstances. May I take this to heart each and every day.
